Jets reportedly inquired with Cardinals about Patrick Peterson

The Arizona Cardinals continue to take the public stance that All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson is not available ahead of next week’s trade deadline.

That’s despite the fact that Peterson himself has requested a trade from the downtrodden organization.

Now, according to Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News, the New York Jets and former Peterson defensive coordinator Todd Bowles inquired about his services recently. Though, Mehta also noted that a trade to Jersey remains unlikely.

Part of the season Peterson wants to be moved from Arizona is that the team is 1-6 this season and simply not prepared to contend moving forward. Despite boasting a surprising 3-4 record, the Jets themselves also seem ways away from contention. Would Peterson even want to go there? That’s the biggest question.

It seems more likely that Peterson will be traded to a contending team. We mentioned five possibilities, including the New England Patriots and Philadephia Eagles, both of whom have been linked to another former Pro Bowl cornerback.
