NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is not about to take sides or get involved in the drama surrounding Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler.
A day after Butler reportedly berated his teammates during Wolves practice, Silver opened up about the entire issue.
“They gotta work it out,” Silver said, via TMZ Sports. “I think that Jimmy is obviously a fantastic player. Timberwolves had a great season last year. He’s got 1 year left on his contract and I know Jimmy, that if they don’t end up doing the right deal (trade) for him, he’s gonna play hard and he’s gonna stay this year.”
That’s a balanced approach to take. Unfortunately, it seems that neither Butler nor the Wolves’ brass are willing to take the same approach.
By now, it’s well known that the All-NBA performer has requested a trade. Since then, the drama has been taken to a whole new level. However unlikely it might be, maybe the two do in fact work this thing out. At the very least, they should listen to commish.
