The Atlanta Falcons will once again be without the services of starting running back Devonta Freeman, who’s missed the past two games after suffering a knee injury in the team’s opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Head coach Dan Quinn announced Friday that Freeman would not play on Sunday, though he did provide an encouraging update that bodes well for the future.
Dan Quinn says Devonta Freeman showed a “big jump” this week. But he and Derrick Shelby will be out as well as Justin Bethel. #Falcons

During the team’s Week 1 game against Philadelphia, Freeman carried the ball just six times and caught three passes for a total of 50 yards before exiting.
During Freeman’s absence, Tevin Coleman has taken over as Atlanta’s lead back. So far this season, Coleman has totaled 217 total yards and two touchdowns as the Falcons have gone to a pass-heavy approach.
