Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen had a brutal afternoon Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals that ended with him in the concussion protocol.
Right at the end of the second half, Allen was hit hard as he released a pass and had his head bounce off the turf.

Initially, Allen remained in the game, but the NFL’s concussion protocol actually worked as he was pulled out by a spotter a couple plays later.
Josh Allen is coming out of the game. Looks like the concussion spotter pulled him out. Hit his head hard on the turf a few plays ago.

Thankfully, Allen was cleared to return after being evaluated in the locker room.

Before Allen left the game, he had completed just 6-of-11 passes for 34 yards and had been sacked five times for a loss of 39 yards.
He had absolutely no help in this game, as his offensive line was overwhelmed from the start. It was exactly not the way the Bills hoped things would turn out when they gave him the start in this critical third preseason game.
