Chris Hogan, Patriots reportedly talking extension

As the New England Patriots’ wide receiver situation continues to change on a near daily basis, the team is hoping that veteran pass catcher Chris Hogan remains a constant.

According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, New England is currently engaged in contract extension negotiations with Hogan.

As Howe notes, there’s certainly a bit of a difference between what Hogan is looking for and how the Patriots value him. Then again, it’s rather early in the process.

Hogan, 29, has recorded 72 receptions for 1,119 yards and nine touchdowns in two seasons with the Patriots. He’s entering the final season of a three-year, $12 million deal the veteran signed with New England back in March of 2016.

Having traded Brandin Cooks and released Malcolm Mitchell over the past few months, New England needs some sense of continuity for Tom Brady under center. Signing Hogan to an extension would represent that.
