Carson Wentz might not play a single preseason game?

NFL Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz (11) runs out of the pocket past Washington Redskins defensive tackle Matthew Ioannidis (98) during the first quarter at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been extremely cautious with the comeback bid of starting quarterback Carson Wentz, and that could mean he doesn’t play at all this preseason.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media was on air Sunday and said he wouldn’t be surprised if Wentz doesn’t play in any of the team’s four exhibition contests.

Wentz has continued to recover from the ACL and LCL tears that ended his 2017 season prematurely, suffering no setbacks. He has looked extremely good moving around and throwing the ball (watch here).

That said, as Rapoport noted, and has head coach Doug Pederson recently made abundantly clear, the big thing right now is to ensure that Wentz is the team’s quarterback the next decade-plus, rather than Week 1 of this coming season.

With that in mind, Eagles fans and fantasy football owners should brace themselves for Nick Foles to open the season as the starter.
