Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick is one of the best in the business. He’s also been out of commission recently due to “stingers.”
Frederick has already seen one of the nation’s top spine/neck doctors in California (Dr. Robert Watkins III).
On Monday, head coach Jason Garrett divulged that the center is now set to see more specialists locally, per Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. Garrett did not go into detail about why Frederick would need a second opinion on this injury.
Previously, Frederick had voiced optimism over his initial visit with Dr. Watkins.
“When you’re working with your neck that’s something you want to be careful of,” Frederick said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I wanted to be sure that there was nothing else involved, so I went and saw the specialist down in L.A., one of the top guys, and he assured me it’s stingers. Everything is good other than the stingers.”
The Cowboys recently made Frederick the highest-paid center in the NFL. He’s made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons and was a First-team All-Pro in 2016.
Dallas also has another top lineman out currently, as left guard Zack Martin is dealing with a knee injury that could potentially keep him out early this season.
