Report: Travis Frederick lands six-year, $56.4 million extension with Cowboys

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Locking up one of their cornerstone players for the foreseeable future, the Dallas Cowboys reportedly signed center Travis Frederick to a six-year extension.

Rand Getlin of NFL Network first reported the deal, while Ian Rapoport followed with the following details:

As the anchor of Dallas’ outstanding offensive line, Frederick is one of the most valuable players on the roster. Clearly, owner Jerry Jones and son Stephen felt the same way and rewarded him with the richest contract for any center in the league.

The Cowboys received a fair amount of criticism a few years ago when they selected Frederick in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Most online pundits and television analysts felt it was a huge reach by Dallas, as he was a player they had pegged as a second- or third-round talent.

Two Pro Bowls and a Pro Football Writers of America First-Team All-Pro berth later, and Frederick is widely regarded as one of the best in the business.
