Report: Lonzo Ball might require knee surgery

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have a heated competition between recently signed Rajon Rondo and second-year point guard Lonzo Ball.

However, based on a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Ball could end up sitting at least part of it out due to a knee injury (torn meniscus) that could require surgery.

Previously, Wojnarowski asserted that perhaps Ball’s camp leaked his injury so that he wouldn’t get traded, as he doesn’t want to leave the Lakers.

For what it’s worth, at least for the time being it seems the Lakers are interested in keeping their first-round pick from last year around a while longer.

Ball had a pretty solid rookie season. He finished the 2017-18 campaign having played in 52 games — he was out multiple times with injuries — and averaged 10.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
