Now that training camps have started around the NFL, there’s one major offseason question still looming large. Where will former Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant land after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys during the spring?
We already know that Bryant turned down a lucrative long-term contract from the Baltimore Ravens in hopes of signing a one-year deal and cashing in next offseason. Outside of that, there’s been very little on this front.
Still, Bryant is one that’s playing his cards close to his chest. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, that includes the 29-year-old receiver only wanting to sign with a contending team.

Whether this comes to fruition is anyone’s guess. Having struggled the past two seasons, Bryant really isn’t in position to be picky. If he wants a lucrative one-year deal with a contending team, that’s going to limit the receiver’s options big time heading into the preseason.
It was previously reported that Bryant might ultimately land with the San Francisco 49ers. The idea of teaming up with Jimmy Garoppolo, Jerick McKinnon, Pierre Garcon and a whole plethora of youngsters for the up-and-coming team might be enticing for Bryant. Though, we’re not even sure the 49ers themselves are wholeheartedly interested in him. In fact, one could question whether they qualify as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
As Rapoport notes, Bryant could hold out until an inevitable injury occurs during camp and the preseason. The New England Patriots also make some sense given that Julian Edelman will start the 2018 season on suspension.
Either way, it doesn’t look like the Bryant’ situation is about to come to a culmination at any point soon.
