Chris Sale, Max Scherzer named starting pitchers for 2018 All-Star Game

On Monday, Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale and Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer were named the two starting pitchers for the 2018 All-Star Game.

It’s hard to argue against these two men starting, especially since Justin Verlander won’t be able to pitch. That said, Jacob deGrom was absolutely deserving, too. But since the game is in Washington, it makes sense to give the ball to Scherzer in the first inning.

Sale comes into the All-Star break with a 10-4 record, along with an ERA of 2.23, a WHIP of 0.90, 188 strikeouts and 31 walks in 129 innings of work.

Scherzer hits the break with a 12.5 record, along with an ERA of 2.41, a WHIP of 0.90, 182 strikeouts and 34 walks in 134 innings of work.
