The Boston Celtics might have a real problem on their hands with first-round rookie Robert Williams. The former Texas A&M big man had already gotten off on the wrong foot when he slept in, missing his introductory conference call.
“Right after the draft, I actually ran to my aunt’s house and went to sleep because I was so tired from everything,” Williams said (h/t masslive.com). “When I woke, my sister was like, ‘You had a conference call.'” Williams also confirmed it was, “a good night’s sleep after a busy two days.”
As if that isn’t bad enough, ESPN’s Chris Forsberg passed along some more bad news. The Celtics say Williams missed his flight back to Boston and wasn’t present for the start of summer league practice on Sunday.
It’s going to be very interesting to see what Williams has to say for himself here. Williams had some teams concerned about whether he’s truly motivated to be great as a professional, and so far it seems safe to say those concerns were warranted.
