Phil Mickelson did himself and his legacy no favors on Saturday when he intentionally putted a moving ball to save himself from going into a bunker on 13 at Shinnecock Hills.

On Sunday, John Hopkins of Global Golf Post appeared on FOX Sports live and annihilated Mickelson for his actions.
Well…John Hopkins certainly has an opinion on how Phil handled himself. #usopen pic.twitter.com/mMhz8Ex2BA

Mickelson afterward admitted in a post-round interview that he intentionally hit the ball while it was moving because he didn’t want to have to go back and forth hitting the same shot over again from the bunker.
Many have stated that Mickelson should have been disqualified, due to the nature of his intent, which was to gain a competitive advantage. No doubt, this incident will be talked about for a long time, and it’s hard to argue that Hopkins’ assessment of the situation is a bad take.
