Report: Steve Kerr finalizing contract extension with Warriors

After winning their second consecutive championship and third in four seasons, the Golden State Warriors have locked up one of the most pivotal contributors to the team’s success.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Kerr and the Warriors have agreed to a multi-year extension. The 52-year-old will become one of the NBA’s highest paid coaches following the extension.

In four seasons under Kerr, Golden State has posted a 265-63 record with an .808 winning percentage in the regular season. In the postseason, the Warriors have a 63-20 record and made it to the NBA Finals in all four seasons with Kerr.

According to BoydsBets, Gregg Poppovuch, Doc Rivers and Tom Thibodeau are the only three NBA coaches making $10-plus million per year. Financial terms of Kerr’s extension have not been disclosed.
