Report: Janoris Jenkins advised by lawyers to remain in Florida

Janoris Jenkins

Janoris Jenkins finds himself immersed in a serious situation right now after a dead body was found in his New Jersey home Tuesday.

The New York Giants cornerback has been in Florida since the team’s minicamp ended, but it’s not surprising to hear he wants to get back to New Jersey as this horrible story continues to unfold. That said, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN, Jenkins’ attorneys have advised him to remain in Florida.

Police are investigating this as a potential homicide, and they’re reportedly looking into suffocation or suffocation as the cause of death.

The body of an unidentified male was reportedly found by a worker at Jenkins’ home. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit took over, and a coroner arrived on the scene shortly afterward.

“THE BERGEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE MAJOR CRIMES UNIT AND THE FAIR LAWN POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE INVESTIGATING A DEATH AT 14 VAN SAUN PLACE IN FAIR LAWN,” ACTING PROSECUTOR DENNIS CALO SAID VIA NEWJERSEY.COM. “THE DECEASED IS NOT THE OWNER OF THE RESIDENCE, BUT THE IDENTITY OF THE MALE DECEDENT CANNOT BE RELEASED UNTIL NEXT OF KIN HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.”

The New York Giants have since issued a statement in which they said they are aware of the ongoing investigation and are monitoring it.

Jenkins, 29, has been with the Giants since 2016 when he signed a lucrative deal in free agency.
