The New York Giants received some good news on Saturday as it relates to star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
As OBJ was hosting a bunch of kids for a football camp, the media caught up with the Pro Bowl pass catcher. In doing so, questions about a potential training camp holdout over a contract stalemate came up.
Beckham ended those rumors on the spot, noting that he will in fact be in attendance for Giants training camp later this summer.
Got in two questions to Odell as he was carted away: Will we see you at camp? “Yes sir. Yes you will,” he said. So no holdout? “No. No holdout.”

By now it’s well known that OBJ wants to be the game’s highest-paid receiver. It’s led to a dramatic rift between himself and the organization, especially earlier in the offseason when OBJ was placed on the trade block.
For their part, the Giants want to see Beckham return healthy from last season’s ankle injury before handing him a lucrative long-term deal.
The issue here is that Beckham is set to become a free agent following the 2018 season. Should the two sides not come to terms on a long-term deal here soon, New York will almost certainly be forced to place the franchise tag on him.
At the very least, this latest piece of news gives the Giants hope that Beckham will not be a malcontent in his contract year.
