LOOK: Tom Brady seemingly announces he’ll retire at 45

Tom Brady

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been in the news a lot recently after noting in an interview with Oprah last week that retirement is coming sooner rather than later.

It now looks like the soon-to-be 41-year-old Brady has a specific timeline for retirement. In responding to an ESPN Instagram post recently, Brady simply wrote “cuarenta y cinco.” For those of you who are not bilingual, this means “45” in Spanish.

There you have it. Brady pretty much announces that he’s planning on retiring at 45. At the most, this would give him five more seasons in the NFL.

While it might seem absurd to think that Brady can play at a high level into his mid 40s, there’s concrete evidence suggesting that this might be the case. Not only is the five-time Super Bowl winner still in peak physical condition, he’s still playing at a high level.

Over the course of the past three seasons, Brady has tallied 96 touchdowns compared to 17 interceptions en route to leading New England to a 36-8 record in 44 starts. One might even say Brady is like fine wine, getting better with age.

If so, it will be fun to see how he performs in what is now the twilight of the future Hall of Famer’s career.
