Tuesday marks the first time that citizens in the state of Delaware can take part in legal sports gambling. It’s the first state to take advantage of last month’s landmark United States Supreme Court ruling that struck down a prohibition on sports gambling.
Who better to make the first bet than Delaware Governor John Carney?
That’s exactly what he did in placing $10 on the Philadelphia Phillies winning Tuesday night’s game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

That’s going out on a limb a bit.
Though, there’s a bit more to this story. It’s about a 90-minute drive from Delaware’s capital of Dover to Philadelphia.
Obviously, Carney is letting his fandom get in the way of logic. That’s rarely a good decision in the gambling world.
