Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has gone on record indicating that there wasn’t a real trade market for reigning Super Bowl MVP, quarterback Nick Foles.

It’s not yet known what exactly made Pederson go public with those comments. But now, it appears that he might have been playing it close to the vest.

According to NFL Media’s Mike Silver, Philadelphia turned down an offer that would have sent the second of the Cleveland Browns’ second-round picks (35th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft to the Eagles in exchange for Foles.

“Before rejecting the deal, two sources said, the Eagles ran the scenario by Foles, who said he preferred to remain in Philadelphia,” Silver would later note.

Ultimately, the Eagles and Foles came together on a reworked contract. Meanwhile, Cleveland sent a third-round pick to the Buffalo Bills for Tyrod Taylor before spending the No. 1 overall pick on reigning Heisman winner Baker Mayfield.

Philadelphia was previously said to be demanding at least a first-round pick in exchange for Foles. As of now the Browns’ pick at the top of the second round is the best offer the defending champs received.
