San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman is making strides in his recovery from a ruptured Achilles he suffered last November.
After running for the first time on an actual field, Sherman said his Achilles “felt great.”
#49ers CB Richard Sherman (Achilles) told me he jogged on the field for the first time Wednesday. Had been on the treadmill before. Said his Achilles "felt great" after. Sherman told me, "I'll be ready for training camp, but (the team) is going to be overly cautious either way."

He also said he “will be ready” to attend training camp, but expects the 49ers to exercise caution.
There is certainly no reason for the 49ers to rush Sherman back into action. They were the team that decided to take a flier on Sherman after the Seattle Seahawks released him.
When healthy, Sherman lives up to every ounce of the All-Pro honors he has earned three times throughout his career. He joins San Francisco having recorded 32 interceptions, two touchdowns, 104 defended passes and 377 combined tackles during seven seasons in Seattle.
Here’s a clip of Sherman sprinting for those who would like to judge for themselves.
