WATCH: Mike Trout reclaims MLB HR lead with opposite-field blast

There’s quite an entertaining battle going on for the MLB home run lead early this season between Bryce Harper, Mike Trout and Manny Machado.

Recently, Trout claimed the lead, only to have Harper annihilate a ball early the next day. Then on Sunday, just hours after Machado blasted two homers to tie Harper and Trout for the MLB lead with eight total, Trout answered with an opposite-field two-run blast of his own to reclaim the lead.

Just take a look at this beauty.

Just your typical bullet train shot to right-center field, right?

Trout is on some kind of roll to start the 2018 season. He’s currently working on a 306/.406/.682 slash line with nine homers and 17 RBI. And now that he’s got some legitimate help in Los Angeles, perhaps this is the year that Trout and the Halos finally do something big in the postseason.
