A recent report suggested that the move was likely, although that same report was later doubted.
This is an assortment of the reactions that the pick generated.
Baker Mayfield is on his phone in live Instagram post, lots of emotion. He said “yes sir let’s go” at one point

15 years ago, 210 miles south of what is now AT&T Stadium, a boy smaller than the others walked onto the Pop Warner field in Austin, Texas.

Baker Mayfield to the Browns. The first time that a former walk on has been selected with the No 1 overall pick.

Mayfield will attempt to be the man who breaks this franchise’s long run of quarterback futility.
Baker Mayfield's jersey number for #Browns as #NFLDraft top pick should be No. 29, as in the 29th starting QB since 1999

In other words, the fun is just beginning.
