The New Orleans Saints were big movers on draft day. They made a big trade with the Green Bay Packers to move up to the 14th overall pick. With the pick, the Saints took UTSA defensive end Marcus Davenport.

The buzz seemed to be that the trade would be for Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson. If for no other reason, the Saints gave up an awful lot to acquire someone other than Drew Brees’ eventual replacement.
The #Saints give up No. 27, No. 147 and next year’s first-rounder to come up to No. 14.

The Saints moving up was not surprising. But Twitter was generally surprised with who New Orleans drafted.
Oh man. The Saints give up a future #1 to move up for Marcus Davenport, not Lamar Jackson. Interesting….

Davenport will certainly have a lot of work to do to justify such a haul.
