Jack Nicklaus: Grandson’s hole-in-one more special than 6 Green Jackets

Jack Nicklaus

If you were tuned into Wednesday’s Masters Par 3 Contest, then you likely witnessed something pretty amazing.

The Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus, was playing with Tom Watson and Gary Player, and he had his grandson Gary Nicklaus Jr. on the bag as his caddie. Then, on the final hole of the contest, Nicklaus abstained from hitting off the tee, giving his grandson a chance for some glory.

And boy, did he deliver. The 15-year-old hit a perfect shot that went past the hole and spun back, right into the cup for a hole-in-one, setting social media and everyone on the course watching on fire.

It truly was a special moment. Afterward, Nicklaus took to Twitter himself to share his thoughts.

Nicklaus shared similar thoughts during a lengthy post-round interview with his grandson. He was visibly emotional and shed tears in the aftermath of the shot itself, and he once again got slightly choked up speaking about it in that interview.

Truly, it was a once-in-a-lifetime moment that everyone watching will remember for the rest of their lives.
