Dez Bryant: ‘Very sad’ that media trying to destroy me

Dez Bryant has been in the news an awful lot this NFL offseason due to the fact that he’s due to be paid an obscene amount of money, despite a big wane in production the past few years.

There’s been a lot of talk that the Dallas Cowboys could potentially release him. But it’s more likely that he’ll be asked to take a pay cut when Jerry Jones finally meets up with him on Friday.

On Thursday, ahead of that critical meeting that’s been talked about for well over a month, Bryant took to his Twitter account. He expressed a devil-may-care attitude while taking a shot at the media.

“I really been enjoying my offseason..I never in my life heard so much media try to destroy a single soul which is very sad but what is so great is I’m so un f***** bothered,” he wrote, accompanied by a laughing/crying emoji and #throwupthex hashtag.

Clearly, despite this message, Bryant is bothered by some of it. He’s made it clear in the past that the talk about him potentially being released is “personal.” So take from all this what you will.

The really interesting aspect of all this is that really, it’s Stephen Jones’ comments in recent months that have caused so much to be written about Bryant. Jones came out and said Bryant’s antics on the sideline can be distracting for the team and all but hinted the receiver’s future with the team was in jeopardy. His words, not those of people in the media, sparked all the talk about him that Bryant references.

But it’s easy to understand why Bryant would target the media, rather than one of his bosses.
