Another report indicates Jets will pick Baker Mayfield at No. 3 overall

Baker Mayfield

We recently wrote on a report that indicated the New York Jets would prefer to take Baker Mayfield at No. 3 overall, even over Josh Allen and Josh Rosen.

Further adding to this buzz, Todd McShay said on ESPN Tuesday, “From what I’m hearing around the league, I expect Baker Mayfield to be the pick at 3 to the New York Jets.”

The Jets gig is pretty daunting. Being the man in the Big Apple isn’t for everyone — just ask Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith, not to mention Christian Hackenberg and others.

Mayfield makes a ton of sense for the Jets because he’s not going to be intimidated by the New York media. That, plus he’s just a darn good quarterback. And whoever does get picked up by New York at No. 3 overall won’t have to come in right away and start, because Josh McCown will open the season as the starter.

Of all the prospects in this year’s class, Mayfield has the accuracy that offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates wants from his quarterback, too. It just makes a ton of sense to see New York selecting the Heisman winner this April.
