Warriors’ Kevin Durant out at least two weeks with rib fracture

The news isn’t getting much better for the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. With both Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry out for at least the next few games, reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant will join them on the bench.

The Warriors announced ahead of Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings that Durant will miss at least the next two weeks with a rib fracture.

Already two games behind Houston for the top spot out west, this is a major blow for the Warriors’ chances of earning the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

Having missed the past three games, Curry won’t be evaluated again until next Wednesday. It’s not yet known when he’ll return to action (more on that here).

Meanwhile, Thompson missed the past game with a fractured thumb. He’s not going to be evaluated again until this coming Thursday. The expectation here is that Thompson will miss more than another week of action.

At this point, Golden State’s primary concern has to be health. The No. 1 seed will matter little if this team is not at full health come playoff time.
