Robby Anderson’s trial hearing postponed until training camp

Robby Anderson

A trial hearing for New York Jets receiver Robby Anderson (stemming from a May arrest) was originally scheduled to begin on Monday. But per a report from Rich Cimini of ESPN, it’s now been moved to August.

Robby Anderson’s trial hearing for felony resisting arrest, scheduled for tomorrow in Miami, has been postponed again, according to court records. The new date is Aug. 6, when the Jets will be in training camp. The charge stems from an arrest last May at a musical festival in Miami. The wide receiver also is facing felony charges from a separate arrest in January in Sunrise, Fla. He allegedly fled from police and threatened to sexually assault a police officer’s wife.”

Anderson has also pled not guilty to the other charges, with his lawyer releasing a more detailed statement.

Anderson is coming off of a productive year for the Jets in 2017. He hauled in 63 passes and led New York with 941 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns. Perhaps as an insurance policy for Anderson, the Jets have signed receiver Terrelle Pryor.

Sunday’s news is likely not welcome for either New York or Anderson. It would seem better to have the results of the trial (whatever they are) known well before the season. That would give all parties involved ample time to react appropriately. But with everything being pushed to training camp, this has the potential to linger into the season.
