Giants reportedly seeking at least a first-round pick for Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. Giants

It is not new news that the New York Giants and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. have some issues to work out in regards to a contract extension. It’s also known that the Giants are losing patience when it comes to the OBJ’s off-field troubles.

As such, Beckham’s future with the Giants is up in the air. On Sunday, owner John Mara said no player on the team is “untouchable” at this point. Trading Beckham is an option, and reportedly “a first-round pick plus” would be the asking price, according to Pat Leonard of New York Daily News.

This reported price tag is not at all surprising considering Beckham is one of the best offensive players in the league. Over four seasons with the Giants, Beckham has tallied 313 receptions for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns. Knowing that he is one of the best at his position, Beckham is seeking quarterback pay on his next contract.

He is also threatening to hold out on playing until a new deal is done. Conveniently enough, a team such as the Cleveland Browns could afford to give up a first-round pick as well as pay Beckham the salary he commands. We know newly traded wide receiver Jarvis Landry would love to see this happen.

It will be interesting to see if the Giants would actually bite if they received an offer too good to turn down in exchange for their 2014 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
