A video surfaced around the Internet world earlier in the week that appeared to show New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. smoking marijuana. The same video has someone that looks to be OBJ apparently trying to get the women with him to sleep with someone. Next to him, there is a credit card with that appears to be a white powdery substance.
Now, it seems like the Giants themselves are aware of the video, but have no further comment.
“The Giants acknowledged to the Daily News that they are aware of the video but did not have any comment beyond that. Beckham’s agent had not responded to a request for comment as of late Friday night,” the NY Daily News reported Saturday.
Pretty much in lock-step with the Giants, the NFL is also aware of the video but has no further comment (via NJ.com).
Things could get very sticky here for a talented player in Beckham Jr. who is currently looking for a lucrative long-term extension. While New York did pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, it doesn’t seem willing to give OBJ the money he’s looking for.
That’s not to say anything about potential discipline coming the wide receiver’s way from the NFL itself.
Prior to missing all but four games this past season to injury, the former first-round pick put up north of 1,300 yards and double-digit touchdowns in each of his first three NFL seasons.
