Doug Pederson: ‘Safe to say’ Nick Foles will be with the Eagles next season

As the NFL prepares for next month’s draft, the trade and free agent markets have dried up considerably. Up to this point, that includes Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles.

Speculation was widespread earlier in the offseason that Philadelphia might look to cash in on Foles’ recent success and take advantage of quarterback-needy teams by trading the signal caller. That, too, has died down in recent weeks. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson recently noted that there was very little interest in Foles on the trade market.

Now, according to Pederson himself, this means it’s “safe to say” Foles will be back with the Eagles next season.

In no way is this a surprise. Philadelphia was said to be asking for a whole lot in exchange for Foles. With Carson Wentz still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered late last season, having Foles as an insurance plan seems to make a ton of sense. And in reality, it seems to be heading in that direction.
