Dez Bryant utilizing special coach to improve route-running skills

Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant — whose career in Dallas is in limbo — is making some strides towards bettering his physical condition and on-field performance.

Bryant is reportedly going to train with personal wide receivers coach David Robinson, who specializes in route-running, according to Jane Slater of NFL Network. This would be good news following another poor campaign that saw Bryant tally 69 catches for 838 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games last year.

Since signing a five-year, $72 million deal in 2015, Bryant has dealt with injuries and has overall not performed up to expectations. It now appears the time has come for Bryant to take drastic measures to salvage his career.

Robinson has worked in the past with Antonio Browns, Emmanuel Sanders, Jordan Reed and Bryant’s teammate Brice Butler, per Chris Wesseling of NFL.com.

Butler recently said that he could be more productive than Bryant if given the chance. Butler is a free agent that the Cowboys might consider making permanent if they choose to part ways with Bryant.

If Dallas keeps Bryant around, Robinson says he would be more efficient if the Cowboys would “move him around a bit.

The bottom line is, Bryant must find some way to up his level of performance. Seeking the help of Robinson is a great start.
