Cowboys’ Brice Butler appears to put Dez Bryant on blast

After another unproductive and underwhelming season, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has taken a lot of criticism. This appears to have even trickled down to teammate Brice Butler who appeared on Undisputed with Skip Bayless Thursday.

When put on the spot and asked about his usage on the field compared to Bryant’s number of snaps, Butler delivered this money line.

“You gotta follow the money trail, Butler said.”

Obviously, with the big bucks Bryant is making, he commands the lead role. Bryant signed a five-year, $70 million deal in 2015. Yet, he has not exactly provided the Cowboys much bang for the buck since inking that contract.

In 2017 Bryant finished the season with 69 catches for 838 yards and six touchdowns. He also experienced some major cases of the drops. As such, Bayless referred to Bryant as a “ball-dropping disaster.” Ouch.

As for Butler, when asked if he could be more productive than Bryant if given the opportunity, he said “oh 100 percent.”

Butler is slated to hit free agency in 2018. He said he would like to negotiate with the Cowboys, but knows there is a market out there for him too. In his limited play time in 2017, Butler racked up 317 yards and three touchdowns. He also averaged 21.1 yards per catch compared to 12.1 for Bryant.

It should be interesting to follow Butler through free agency. He certainly sounds like a man on a mission and one that is a bit tired of playing second fiddle to Bryant.
