University of Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen caught the eye of NFL Draft analyst Mike Mayock. He has, in the past, compared Allen favorably to Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen. More recently, he compared Allen to a quarterback who was taken first overall.
Though to be fair, this comparison is rather dubious.
Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, the NFL Network analyst said Allen has the “biggest arm quarterback I’ve seen since JaMarcus Russell.”
While Russell certainly had a big arm, this is not exactly the name that an NFL Draftee would want to be compared to. Objectively speaking, Russell is one of the 21st Century’s biggest NFL Draft busts. He had issues on and off the field that caused his NFL career to flame out before it ever got going.
Besides, having a big arm didn’t do anything to help Kyle Boller, either.
There has to be a better comparison to draw than this one. Right?
