Frank Reich indicates Andrew Luck might not be ready to throw when OTAs open up

Andrew Luck

Here’s some not-so-encouraging news for all you Indianapolis Colts fans: The status of Andrew Luck’s health is still very much a mystery, based on what new head coach Frank Reich said about his new quarterback on Tuesday.

Mike Wells of ESPN shared Reich saying he is “hopeful” QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will be throwing when OTAs start in early April.

Let’s decode that for you. Reich has no idea if Luck will be healthy enough to throw in April. This is starting to sound, look and feel very much like what happened last year.

We’ve all read the reports that Luck is close to being able to throw again, and former general manager Bill Polian said Monday that the Colts believe Luck will be ready for a full go in training camp.

But those are the same type of comments we heard last year after Luck had surgery. Only, instead of being ready to play, he not only didn’t participate in training camp but missed the entire season with his bum shoulder.

The simple fact that Luck’s throwing shoulder is still shrouded in mystery is a big problem, and it doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.
