Cardinals plan to be aggressive going after a quarterback

Things are looking positive in the Arizona Cardinals’ camp despite the recent retirements of former head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer.

With finding a new quarterback a top priority, Cardinals president Michael Bidwell expressed confidence in both his general manager and new head coach capably handling this task.

“We’ve got the GM in place (Steve Keim), and I really like our head coach (Steve Wilks) and everything I’ve seen from him so far,” Bidwill said Tuesday, via Arizona Sports 98.7. “The quarterback thing will come. I don’t want to sound like we’re being cavalier about it but we’ve got to wait for free agency to start to see who is out there.

“I know we’re going to be aggressive, we’re going to have a plan.”

Yes. Adding other quarterback talent outside of Blaine Gabbert, Drew Stanton and Matt Barkley is an absolute must. Fortunately for the Cardinals, there will be many options to explore. This offseason should create a tornado of quarterback activity with some popular names slated to hit free agency.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins headlines this list. Signing a quarterback of his caliber would certainly sway wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald into playing in 2018.

Then, there’s this year’s rich rookie class. With the 15th overall pick, Arizona could go this route. A trade might also take place. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is a potential candidate in this department.

Decisions, decisions. We can be sure that Bidwell, Kiem and Wilks are exploring all options in depth.

The hope would be for the Cardinals to evolve back into a playoff contending team. A better quarterback is crucial in this happening.
