Vikings’ Mike Zimmer opens up about extent of Teddy Bridgewater’s injury

Teddy Bridgewater

We have absolutely no idea whether Teddy Bridgewater will remain a member of the Minnesota Vikings next season. The former Pro Bowler is set to become a free agent in March and could look at other opportunities.

What we do know is that Bridgewater acted as an inspiration for the Vikings, returning to the field less than 16 months after suffering a devastating knee injury.

In talking about said injury, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had some rather sobering information to share.

Talk about against all odds.

The injury Bridgewater suffered in August of 2016 was so severe that Vikings players were losing their food on the practice field. In fact, various reports had noted that trainers saved the quarterback’s life by acting quickly.

Despite this, Bridgewater returned to throw two passes in a Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears. Though, he was also inactive for the team’s two playoff games. That could lead us to believe that Teddy still isn’t 100 percent healthy.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this situation during free agency and whether the Vikings can rely on Bridgewater as their starter next season. All three of the team’s quarterbacks are slated to become free agents in March.
