The next head coach of the Indianapolis Colts will have a big job ahead of him, and now we have a good idea about who might be given the task of rebuilding the franchise. Per Albert Breer of SI.com, Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels have emerged as finalists for this position.
Per sources, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and Texans DC Mike Vrabel have emerged as finalists for the Colts job. Indy could still add a candidate, I’m told. But those are the 2 in it now.

McDaniels obviously isn’t going to sign anywhere until the New England Patriots are finished with their postseason schedule, whenever that ends. The offensive coordinator is one of the hottest names out there and has been tied to the Colts previously, primarily due to the notion he could get Andrew Luck back on track — assuming Luck ever gets fully healthy again, of course.
Vrabel, a former Patriots linebacker who is now the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans, is also highly respected. He was mentioned as a candidate for more than a couple head coaching vacancies last offseason but remained on Bill O’Brien’s staff this past year.
If it were up to this scribe, the Colts would hire McDaniels. The defense needs help, for sure, but it would be a shame not to bring in the most capable offensive mind out there to help Luck get back to form.
