If all goes according to plan during NFL Wildcard Weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the up-and-coming Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round.
And for Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, that’s a good thing.
“Obviously, any game that we’re going to play since it’s the postseason is going to be a difficult opponent, but I think just for me personally I’d love to just prove that five interceptions wasn’t me in that game,” Roethlisberger said, via a local CBS affiliate in Pittsburgh.
Back in Week 5, Big Ben threw a career-high five interceptions in a 30-9 blowout loss to the Jaguars. It led to speculation that the Super Bowl-winning quarterback might have hit that inevitable wall in his career. Since then, the Steelers have posted a 10-1 mark en route to earning a first-round playoff bye. And for his part, Roethlisberger has played some tremendous football during that span.
In order for this to come to fruition, Jacksonville will have to take care of business against the Buffalo Bills in its first home playoff game since the 1999 season. Boasting the league’s best defense, the Jaguars are heavy favorites in this game. If the Jags do indeed come out on top here, they’ll travel to Heinz Field to take on Big Ben and the Steelers, no matter what happens in the other AFC Wildcard game between Kansas City and Tennessee.
