Sean McDermott: Tyrod Taylor to remain starter for Bills if healthy

Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor in NFL Week 4

If Tyrod Taylor is healthy enough to play, he’ll continue to be the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, head coach Sean McDermott said Monday.

Taylor missed this past week with a knee injury but could be ready to play in Week 15. He’s been an effective quarterback when healthy this season, completing 63.2 percent of his passes for 2,090 yards with 12 touchdowns and just four interceptions.

McDermott made a terrible decision to bench Taylor for rookie Nathan Peterman a few weeks back against the Los Angeles Chargers, and it appears he realizes now that the veteran is his best option going forward. Peterman suffered a concussion in Week 14 starting for Taylor in the snow, and he’ll be unavailable until after he clears protocol.
