The Denver Broncos have reportedly placed pass rusher Shane Ray on injured reserve, ending his season heading into Week 16.
James Palmer of NFL Network reported the news Tuesday, noting Ray had surgery to remove screws in his wrist that were inserted when his initial injury occurred in training camp. When he was able, Ray played with a cast on that wrist during the 2017 season.
As it’s been for the Broncos as a team, this season has been disappointing for Ray on a personal level. He came into the 2017 season with expectations of taking over for DeMarcus Ware as the dominant force opposite Von Miller. But in the end he was only able to register 16 tackles and one sack playing in eight games.
