Vance Joseph’s first season as the Denver Broncos’ head coach has not gone according to plan. The team heads into Week 17 with a 5-10 record and in last place in the AFC West.
Now, according to this report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s looking more and more like Joseph won’t be back in Denver for a second season.
Broncos’ HC Vance Joseph faces increasingly longer odds at being retained and returning for his second season in Denver, league sources tell ESPN.

Talk about finding yourself a fall guy, Mr. John Elway.
Denver’s primary issue this season has been a disastrous quarterback situation that compares to some of the worst in the NFL. The combination of Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch have thrown 17 touchdowns compared to 20 interceptions.
While there are other issues here, the hand Joseph was dealt at quarterback was never going to be sustainable moving forward.
If the Broncos do indeed fire Joseph after one season, it won’t matter who they bring in to replace him if the team doesn’t get a major upgrade at quarterback. That’s the harsh reality here.
