Oakland Athletics’ stadium deal hits major snag

Oakland stadium

The Oakland Athletics bid for a new stadium is back to square one. The Peralta Community College District — which owns the land the A’s had been planning to build on — has backed out of the agreement.

The team released a statement on its Twitter page.

Libby Schaaf, the Mayor of Oakland, also released a statement, showing the city’s commitment to the A’s.

The bid for a new stadium is nothing new for the A’s.

The Oakland Coliseum is the fourth oldest stadium in baseball and remains the only MLB stadium to also host an NFL team (though that won’t be the case for much longer).
