Earl Thomas and Bobby Wagner engage in social media spat after blowout loss

Things are not going well for the Seattle Seahawks. Following the team’s Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Earl Thomas said that Bobby Wagner shouldn’t have played hurt (hamstring injury). In a since deleted tweet, Wagner let his displeasure be known.

“E keep my name out yo mouth,” Wagner tweeted. “Stop being jealous of other peoples’ success. I still hope you keep balling bro.”

In truth, the Seahawks’ loss was a team effort. Los Angeles not only drubbed Seattle 42-7, but out-gained the Seahawks 352-149. With those stats in mind, it’s hard to think that just about anyone wouldn’t have fared at least a little better.

In truth, there’s nothing new about Seattle’s players jawing at each other. The difference now is that unlike most of the last five years, the disagreements are coming after losses, and big ones. While the Seahawks are far from eliminated, they will need some help to avoid missing the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

If things continue to go poorly on the field, we can only imagine that the off-field tension won’t be eased.
