Tyrod Taylor to start over Nathan Peterman

Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor in NFL Week 4

The Nathan Peterman experiment failed miserably for the Buffalo Bills, so the team is turning back to Tyrod Taylor for Week 12.

According to Joe Buscaglia of WKBW, head coach Sean McDermott explained the decision at Wednesday’s press conference.

“A week ago, I felt like the right thing for this team was to start Nate. This week, the right thing for this team is to start Tyrod Taylor.”

While this seemed like the obvious decision after Peterman threw five first-half interceptions in a 54-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, it also wasn’t certain McDermott would make the switch.

Initially after Peterman’s rough day, the first-year coach continually defended his rookie. He called some of the non-interceptions “pretty darn good,” which can be true yet is certainly not what the NFL world expected to hear from McDermott.

Again, Peterman had five interceptions. In one half.

Nevertheless, Taylor is back into the starting lineup. Although he’s criticized for being too safe, Taylor has posted a 63.8 completion percentage with 11 touchdowns and only three interceptions this season. The mobile quarterback also has 275 rushing yards.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host Taylor and the Bills this Sunday before Buffalo begins a three-game homestand. At this point, however, we cannot confidently say Taylor will stay under center — even if that’s the best choice.
