Seahawks’ Richard Sherman expects to be ready for training camp

Richard Sherman

The Seattle Seahawks and their fans could use some good news on the Richard Sherman injury front.

A week after suffering a season-ending ruptured Achilles against the Arizona Cardinals, Sherman himself is already on the mend. He underwent surgery to repair the injury and now expects himself to be back by training camp.

“The comeback definitely starts now,” Sherman said (h/t Pro Football Talk). “They won’t let me walk on it right now so I guess the comeback really starts in two or three months. But I’m going to do core all the way. My core is going to be right, that’s for sure.”

These comments were part of a Q&A Sherman conducted with fans from the hospital bed following his surgery on Wednesday. He also noted that he’s targeting May or June for a return.

At 6-3 on the season, Seattle is going to have to earn its way to the playoffs without Sherman. Monday against Atlanta will represent exactly 2,500 days since the Seahawks played a game without the future Hall of Famer corner.

At the very least, Sherman is in good spirits and already talking about a return to the field. That’s the best-case scenario right now.
