Sometimes, the world just isn’t fair. For Chicago Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic, that realization came on Tuesday with teammate Bobby Portis returning from his eight-game suspension.

As most of you already know, Portis was suspended after seriously injuring Mirotic during a fight on the opening day of the season. It’s an incident that has painted Portis and the Bulls in a bad light, and it has Mirotic’s bitterness at an all-time high.

“Mirotic remains upset enough over the disparity in time of absences (between him and Portis) that he has had little contact with teammates, and his camp has made clear to management that, for now, it doesn’t see a way the two forwards can coexist,” the Chicago Tribune reported recently.

Mirotic, who suffered multiple facial fractures and a concussion in the fight, is still weeks away from returning to the court. Considering he has had limited contact with teammates since the fight, it’s safe to question whether Mirotic will return to the Bulls when he’s healthy.

There were rumors swirling about that the forward wants out of his contract in an attempt to return overseas to play basketball. Those have not been confirmed, and they’re still just rumors. Even then, this recent reports suggests something could be going on there.

In the midst of a drama-filled season, the Bulls currently find themselves at 2-6 heading into Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors. It’s not yet known whether Portis will suit up.
