The mystery is no longer. On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts placed star quarterback Andrew Luck on injured reserve. This decision ends the quarterback’s season without him having thrown a single pass.

Luck underwent shoulder surgery back in January. At that time, it was expected that he’d be able to return by the start of the regular season. But this never came to fruition, with Luck struggling in the rehab process.
At 2-6 on the season, Indianapolis is pretty much out of the AFC Playoff race. That likely played a role in Indianapolis shutting him down for the season.
It’s something a lot of people around the football world have been suggesting the team do. Why throw Luck out there when he’s not 100 percent? Why do so in the midst of a lost season? The Colts answered these two questions and a whole lot more on Thursday.
