Sucker-punching Panthers fan identified, to be prosecuted

Carolina Panthers 2016 Schedule Panthers fan

On Friday, a very disturbing video emerged showing a Carolina Panthers fan sucker-punching another fan multiple times while in the stands, then leaving the scene.

The Panthers have released a statement on the matter, per David Newton of ESPN. The organization, working with police, has identified the man seen in the video punching the other man, and there will be severe consequences.

“We have reviewed video tape of the incident and have identified the perpetrator. We are working with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law. “The Carolina Panthers are committed to a fan-friendly and family-friendly stadium experience. The behavior exhibited by the perpetrator is unacceptable and will not be condoned at Bank of America Stadium.”

According to the person who posted the video on Instagram, the man who punched the other fan had been standing up the entire game, along with a female companion of his. The people behind them complained about not being able to see throughout the contest and continued to complain as the game moved into the second half. Once a single mother and her son (who were sitting in the area) left the game, the situation escalated to the point where the vicious attack occurred.

The man who absorbed the blows never got violent in retaliation. He appeared to be trying to reason with the man, even after being repeatedly punched in the face, and others around the scene were clearly horrified at what took place.

The fact that the man who threw the punches has been identified and will be prosecuted is good news for everyone involved, minus himself.
