Rob Gronkowski ‘good to go’ Sunday after sitting out Week 5

The New England Patriots will have tight end Rob Gronkowski back in action Sunday when they take on the New York Jets.

Gronkowski, speaking to reporters Friday, said he’s “good to go” for the AFC East rivalry game after missing last Thursday’s game with a thigh injury.

In four games this year, Gronkowski has hauled in 20 passes for 318 yards and two touchdowns.

New England’s offense struggled to make big plays without Gronk in the lineup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, managing just 19 points last Thursday. Chris Hogan and Danny Amendola picked up the slack, catching 16 passes for 151 yards and the game’s only receiving touchdown.

Even missing Week 5, Gronkowski is New England’s second-leading receiver in terms of yardage behind Brandin Cooks, who has caught 18 passes for 379 yards. Chris Hogan has been the red-zone threat, catching five touchdowns. But nobody can do what Gronkowski can do in terms of matching up against opposing linebackers and safeties.

Needless to say, the Patriots are better with the big tight end in the lineup.
